Bathinda May : With a view to create awareness against the menace of drugs District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, (DLSA) Bathinda Mr Paramjeet Singh today organised an event against the use of drugs here at jogger’s park in which all judicial officers alongwith DC Basant Garg, IGP Dr. Jatinder Jain, DIG Ranbir Singh Khatra and representatives from different departments of the district numbering about 700 participated.
The march ‘Run Against Drugs-Say No to Drugs’ was flagged off by District & Sessions Judge Paramjeet Singh and Dr. Jatinder Jain where a documentary film prepared by IG Jain was also shown to the participants on the spot.
District and Sessions Judge Mr Parameet Singh delivered vote of thanks and enthralled the audience by sharing his views on drugs and encouraged the participants to live a healthy and wealthy life. He also administrated oath to all the participants that they will not use drugs in their life nor they will allow any person to use drugs in any way.
Speaking on the occasion Jain advised the young generation to say ‘no to drugs’ and not to fall into the trap of drugs. He said although the police has responsibility to stop the spreading of all the evils in the society but this responsibility cannot be wide-ranging without the participation of the students, teachers, parents and the society. Sharing his views DC Basant Garg assured full support to the district legal services authority to eradicate this evil from the society and to make the people aware about the menace of drugs.
CJM cum Secretary DLSA Ms. Amita Singh exhorted all the organs of the government to unite against this evil and prove the strength of their unity. She further stated that the function of judiciary is not limited to delivering judgments and deciding the cases, rather the judiciary has decided to create awareness about the social evils prevalent in the society, out of which drug addiction is deadliest.
The event was a big success as all the judicial officers, all the officers from the executive and police department shared a common platform to give a massage to the general public that all the wings of the government have zero tolerance to drugs and the time has come to stand up and fight against this menace and get rid of this evil from the society.
