Sri Muktsar Sahib:Krishi Vigyan Kendra Goneana, Sri Muktsar Sahib organized a program to celebrate world soil day here today. In this program about 200 farmers participated and soil health card were distributed among the farmers. Smt. Balvinder Kaur, Chairperson Block samity, Sri Muktsar Sahib honored the occasion as chief guest and distributed the soil health card. Dr. NS Dhaliwal, Associate Director, Krishi Vigyan Kendra preside over the function and talk about the importance of soil testing. He further said that KVK collect and tested the 500 soil sample from different location. Ajay Kumar, Asstt. Prof. (Soil Science) also stressed upon the judicious use of fertilizers in rabi crops. He addressed the farmers to spray 1kg manganese sulphate per acre in 200 liters of water to avoid the manganese deficiency. Balkaran Singh Sandhu, Asstt. Prof. (Agronomy) expressed the importance of pulses to improve the soil health and fertility of soil. Gurmail Singh Sandhu, Asstt. Prof. (Plant protection) expressed acknowledged the farmers regarding effective insect management in rabi crops. Smt Balvinder Kaur appreciates this KVK’s work and asked the farmers to apply nutrient according to the agricultural experts and avoid excess application of pesticides. At the end Dr Karamjit Sharma, Associate professor of Extension education address the farmers to don’t burnt the field and presented vote of thanks to chief guest and farmers collected at the occasion
