FLAG IN CEREMONY MOUNTAINEERING EXPEDITION TO MOUNT BANDARPUNCH

Bathinda : After successfully scaling the 6312 meters mountain peak,Bandarpunch’, the expedition of 2 GARHWAL RIFLES was flagged in at Chetak Corps on 19 Oct 2015. This expedition was flagged in by Lieutenant General DR Soni, General Officer Commanding, Chetak Corps.
The expedition team comprising of 27 members led by Major Dharamjot Singh, had moved out from Bathinda to Uttarkashi on 02 September 2015. Thereafter they started the laborious procedure of scaling the peak. The team after acclimatization established a base camp and two advance camps. The adventurous journey began at a height of 4500 meters and then they went onto fly the Tricolour at 6312 meters on Mount Bandarpunch. The total distance of the climb was 32 kilometers.
During the entire expedition the team faced extreme climatic conditions, difficult terrain and countless other difficulties. Despite all odds, the team kept moving and finally after an arduous though memorable journey, the team reached atop Mount Bandarpunch, standing tall at 6312 meters on 28 September 2015. When code word ‘Fateh’ was passed and it was the most proud moment for 2 GARHWAL RIFLES and Chetak Corps.
