In response to the call given by Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched at General Shivdev Singh Diwan Gurbachan Singh Khalsa College, Patiala from 22nd to 26th June 2015. During the college abhiyan, college campus including administrative block, classrooms, playgrounds, lawns, canteen and bathrooms were cleaned by staff members and students of the college. The surroundings of the college premises was also cleaned during this activity. The students of various clubs and societies of the college like NSS, NCC participated enthusiastically in the activity. The students of the college were also enlightened about the proper disposal of electronics and biodegradable wastes. Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha, Principal of the college, stressed upon the need to observe cleanliness in life. He told the students that cleanliness is next to godliness as it protects them from various deceases and added that civilized race is known by its good habits. He appreciated the campaign by saying that this movement will bring awareness among people to lead a healthy life. He also committed to continue such healthy movements.
