Bathinda, : The meeting of District Health Society and District Quality Assurance Society was held under the GA to DC Mr Narinder Singh Dhaliwal at the office of deputy commissioner today. Assistant civil surgeon Dr Rajkumar too was present at the meeting.The meeting included all program officers, SMOs, specialist doctors, women and child welfare departments, education department and NGOs. The National Health Mission reports were read out at the meeting and deputy medical commissioner –cum- urban nodal officer Dr JS Romana gave information about the urban health.
District Immunization Officer Dr Rakesh Goyal gave information about the RBSK program. District Epidemiologist Dr Rajpal Singh gave information about vector borne diseases with special focus on dengue and appealed the other departments too to spread awareness on dengue. District Family Welfare Officer Dr Ravanjit Kaur gave details about the free services of deliveries, tests, medicines, diet and ambulance being given to new mothers. She said that the number of institutional deliveries in Bathinda district was 97 percent while only 3 percent deliveries were being conducted at home. She appealed the departments to extend helping hand to bring down number of home deliveries.
District Hospital Administrator said that the Government of India has started a new scheme wherein the standard of treatment being given to patients is being risen. Under this a Kayakalp program has been launched in which Bathinda civil hospital figures in list of five hospitals of Punjab that are being declared the best ones. Dr Ravanjit Kaur gave details of the family planning methods wherein quality assurance was being given to raise its standard. Under this the government compensates for the failure of tubectomy and vasectomy operations and as per the Supreme Court guidelines no other claim can be laid except compensation. District mass Media officer Jagtar Singh was also present.
