BATHINDA, : Presiding over the Annual Convocation of DAV College here today, the Governor of Punjab, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki said a College is a sacred place where knowledge is imparted, values instilled in the youth and where they can seek intellectual pursuit. He said that convocation is an important milestone in the educational journey of the students. He urged the students to imbibe the rich values and traditions of Dayanand Anglo Vedic institutions in there daily lives as taught and preached by Swami Dayanand. He said lamp of knowledge should be lit in your minds which would help them on every step in their lives. He implored them to face the challenges of the outside world with a positive attitude. He exhorted the students that in this competitive age, focus should be on enhancing capabilities and confidence to achieve excellence through commitment, vision, determination and hard work.
Appreciating the role of the President, DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi, the Principal and the members of faculty for their valuable contribution towards the realization of dreams, commitment, innovation, and hard work of the founding fathers of this budding institution, Prof. Solanki called upon academicians, educationists and intellectuals to develop action-oriented and progressive programmes, to encourage youth to achieve academic brilliance and take the state forward on the fast track of growth and development. He said institutions should continuously learn, improve and upgrade their knowledge, to face the emerging challenges of globalization.
Wishing all success to students the Governor said that he was confident that the education they had received in this great institution will help them in their journey of life. He said this would also make you productive and responsible citizens of India.Giving degrees and medals to the students the Governor said that this College has surely instilled in you a sense of responsibility and achievement towards fulfilling further commitments. Let us then take a pledge to make India a prosperous nation, with a scientific bent of mind and a spiritual heart, a treasure house of rich culture and heritage,he added.
Earlier, Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, Principal of the College read the Annual Report of the College. He asked students toremember that this institution has given you a passport to better respect and prosperity for yourself. Therefore, it was your moral duty to contribute generously to make this institution stronger to serve even a larger number of smart people like you.Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included, Mr. M.P. Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor, Dr. R.K. Kohli, Vice Chancellor Central University of Punjab, Mr. P.D.
