Dr. Dharamvira Gandhi today strongly criticised the decision of Punjab Govt. to sell Veer Haqikat Rai ground & snatch away the only public place in the city where people could hold political, social & religious congregations. The Badal govt. for the last 8 years is plundering the state at both ends. On one hand it is looting the natural & state resources may it be sand, transport & cable network, on the other hand it is continuously selling mortgaging & leasing out the state (People) owned properties to fill their coffers in a clandestine manner and thus robbing the people of their parks & other places of common use.
The Sale of Veer Haqikar Rai ground is a challenge to the people of Patiala, and he along with like minded parties and individuals will put on all efforts, to save this ground from being sold out by the Punjab Govt. Dr. Gandhi also condemned the decision of Badal Govt. to dismantle PUDA and merged it with GMDA, as this move will rob Patiala further in favour of Badal families favourable constituencies like Bathinda or Mohali.
Dr. Gandhi has decided to raise this issue not only at local or state level but also in the Monsoon Session of Parliament, in order to compel the central govt. to dissuade Mr. P. S. Badal from selling this prime common land in the city. In the past also the state govt. has diverted several funds meant for the development of city to Bathinda which has hampered the growth of this historical city of Patiala
