DIAL 1968 FOR FREE LEGAL AID, DISTRICT AND SESSION JUDGE

Bathinda,:The District and Session Judge Bathinda Mr Tejwinder Singh held a meeting of officers today to popularise lok adalat, which are medium of providing cheaper and sooner justice to the people. He said that the decision of lok adalat was recognized as decree of the civil court, there can be no appeal against its decision and its decision is considered final.
He added that the decisions in lok adalat are taken after the mutual consent of contesting parties, which also does not strain the relations of the two parties. After the case is decided in lok adalat, the entire court fees paid earlier is reimbursed. The ADC (G) Mrs Parampal Kaur Sidhu, secretary District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Mrs Amita Singh. SSP Mr Swapan Sharma, Chief Judicial Magistrate Mr Vikrant Kumar Gupta, district attorney Mr I S Kingra, president district bar association Mr Guriqbal Singh Chahal, superintendent Bathinda Central Jail Mr Rajwinder Singh were also present.
The district and session judge told the officers to popularise lok adalat so that people can be provided speedy justice. He also gave information about free legal aid schemes, legal aid clinic, legal literacy club and the schedule of forthcoming of national lok adalat. He added that panel of advocates who are working for DLSA has also been revised and the names of about 65 advocates have been included in the list.
Mr Tejwinder Singh said that the DLSA also gives free legal aid for motor accident claims or compensation. The lok adalat for motor accident tribunal and insurance claims is being held on June 11, 2016. He added that the information regarding free legal services can also be had from toll free helpline number 1968. He added that under in event of death of insured in motor accident his or her legal heir, in event of injury or in event of damage to property the injured/affected person can give application to Motor Accident Claim Tribunal under Motor Vehicle Act 1988 and claim compensation.
