Kathua : Castigating Union as well as State Government responsible for enhancing the hardships of common people District Congress Committee under the leadership of District President Former MLC Subash Gupta staged protest demonstration at Mukherjee Chowk, on Saturday.
The protesters raised slogans against the government for hike in prices of petroleum products and other essential commodities, and against non-availability of ration, sugar, power, and drinking water.
PCC State General Secretary Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, Former Minister Babu Singh, Ex-MLA Girdhari Lal Chalotra, Ex- President Municipal Council Naresh Sharma and dozens of other party leaders expressed their views over the failures of governments.
Dr Manohar Lal alleging the Modi government said, “It was hardly a month that after the formation of new government started showing his hidden deadly teeth by raising the fare hike in railways. Now, after few months of ups and down government had increased the price of petroleum products to unexpected graph”, adding that hike in petroleum products is clearly a bid of the government to increase the economic burden on the poor.
Former Minister Babu Singh irked over the anti-people policies of governments said that BJP leadership instead of providing relief to people is busy in singing own praises and befooling people by celebrating ‘Vikas Parv’. “I would like to ask them during the Congress allied regime why this hike was not made. The simple reason was that Congress had the feelings of hardships of poor public”, he miffed.
Subash Gupta alleging the central government said it is not the hike of petroleum however, the rates of other commodities would soon be on sky as the transportation charges will increase. The protesters demanding roll back in the hike warned the government ready to face intensified protests throughout the country.
“It is a massive hike. If they continue to take steps like this, I am sure people of the country will punish the government,” he added.
Subash Gupta also raised the issues of wages to daily rated workers and their early regularization, five Marlas plot residing near the zero line, compensation of land and construction of Medical College at kathua as sanctioned by Ghulam Nabi Azad former union health minister at the earliest.
Subash Gupta demanded State Government to exempt the VAT, sale tax in the state, on the sale of the LPG Gas, petrol, diesel, kerosene oil, in the budget.The Congress activists also warned of intensifying the struggle if government fails to redress the sufferings and demands of the people.
