CBI ARRESTS LAW OFFICER FOR ACCEPTING AN ALLEGED BRIBE OF RS.7000/-

The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested a Law Officer working in the office of ADGP (Prisons), Sector 17, Chandigarh(Punjab) for demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.7000/- from the complainant for clearing file relating to release of a person, currently undergoing a sentence of imprisonment at Modern Jail, Naba(Punjab).
It was alleged that the said person, resident of Patiala(Punjab) had been undergoing the sentence and was out on parole. He had completed 14 years out of the 20 years sentence and the file for his early release was under process at the office of ADGP(Prisons), Punjab, Sector 17, Chandigarh. The said Law Officer was allegedly keeping his case file pending for last many days and when he was contacted by complainant, he demanded bribe for showing favor to him in the matter. CBI laid a trap and caught the Law Officer red handed while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.7000/- from the complainant.
