Bathinda,: Bathinda will be hosting the Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Punjab Games (men and women0 under 25 years category from Feb 14 to Feb 19 wherein 1052 players and officials will be participating. Presiding over a meeting specially conducted to oversee arrangements for the event, the Deputy Commissioner Dr Basant Garg stated that national and circle style kabaddi matches will be held during the event wherein players from all 22 districts will participate.
Dr Garg stated that in order to ensure that no health supplement is used by players to enhance their performance team from NADA will conduct dope test of the players in Bathinda. He said that the ADC (D) has been deputed as the overall in-charge for event. The show match will be played between Bathinda and Sri Muktsar Sahib.
The Deputy Commissioner said that for the players coming from districts help centers will be set up at bus stand and at the railway station so that the players are accorded help as soon as they land in the city. Giving information about the staying arrangements made for the players, Dr Garg said that the arrangements have been made for comfortable stay of females in Guru Harkrishan School, MSD School, Kanya Mahavidyalaya and SSD Moti Ram School. Similarly, arrangements have been made for the male players at MHR School, Guru Nanak School, DAV School and Dasmesh Public School. The Public Health department has been directed to ensure that all these places are properly isnepcted and ensured that they have proper toilets and bathrooms.
Dr Grag added that tenders have been floated to provide food for the players and officials. The tender will be allotted to those who cook best and healthy food. Health department has been directed to ensure that its teams are stationed at required places.The ADC (G) Mr Sumit Kumar Jarangal, IAS under training Miss Amrita Singh, SDM Bathinda Mr Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, district transport officer Mr Latif Ahmed, municipal commissioner Mr Anil Garg, district education officer Mrs Amarjit Kaur Kotfatta, district sports officer Mrs Saroj Dhiman and others were also present during the meeting.
