Bathinda,: Under the Government of India’s campaign to provide soil health cards to the farmers, the district level campaign was started from village Gulabgarh. The Chief Agriculture Officer Bathinda Dr Nachhattar Singh Aulakh flagged off mobile soil testing lab from the village.
Speaking at the event the soil analysis officer Dr Bahadar Singh Sidhu said that farmers will be provided soil health cards so that that they can use fertilizers in their land as per soil’s requirement and improve their productivity and decrease wasteful expenses. Besides this the tubewell water of fields will also be tested and farmers will be educated about the health of water.
Agriculture Development officer Dr Suresh Kumar stated that 75 villages of the district have been selected under this project for this year. Agriculture development officer Dr Baljinder Singh added that in the month of May, the mobile soil testing lab will cover eight villages. Farmers will be told about fertilizer usage on basis of their soil’s health.
At village Gulabgarh, agriculture development officer Dr Jaskaran Singh Kular demarcated teams into four parts and collected samples of soil from different agricultural fields of the village. 165 samples of soil and 36 samples of water were collected, tested on the spot in mobile vans and reports were distributed to respective land owners. The reports collected will be associated with respective land in village on the latitude and longitude of area using the GPS system, will be uploaded with Aadhar card of respective farmers and will be uploaded on the agriculture department’s portal. This will enable farmers to make judicious use of fertilizers as per the need of soil.
Lab assistant Jagjit Singh, BTM Gamdur Singh, field supervisor Gagandeep Singh and Tarandeep Singh, Tara Singh, Baldev Singh, Nachhattar Singh agriculture, Rajinderpal Singh, Jagsir Singh, Kulwinder Singh scout were also present.
