SPORTS SCHOOL GHUDDA TO HOST NATIONAL OPEN ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIP ON 13-14 OCT

Bathinda:90th Punjab Open Athletics Championship is being held at Sports School Ghudda from October 13 to October 14. Giving information in this context here today, the ADC (general) Mr Sumit Jarangal stated that this two day event will see participation of 700 athletes from 22 districts of the states. The players of under 14 and under 16 will be participating in 18 events.
Former MP Mrs Paramjit Kaur Gulshan will inaugurate the event. The first Olympian of Bathinda Mr OP S Karhana will also be present to especially motivate the students. Mr Jarangal said that on Oct 14, the chairman District Planning Committee Bathinda will preside over the closing ceremony. Besides this, the coaches, who are working tirelessly for the players will also be honored.
Punjab government has made arrangements for stay and food for all the 700 players free of cost for two days. Special transport facility is being provided to players from bus stand and the railway station. He invited the residents of city to come and watch the event and encourage the budding players.
The general secretary Punjab Athletics Association Mr KPS Brar said that the winners of these games will participate in Junior National Championship being held from Nov 21 to Nov 25 in Ranchi (Jharkhand). The director principal of Sports School Ghudda Mr Bhupinder Singh Maan was also present.
